There are now several new pilot programs available for caregivers who wish to apply for permanent residence. You can apply either through the Home Child Care Provider Pilot or the Home Support Worker Pilot.
By definition, live-in caregivers are those individuals who are competent and qualified to provide care for children, the elderly, or persons with disabilities. Live-in caregivers are obliged to live in the private home where they work.
If you are a caregiver who takes care of children and provides support for seniors or people with disabilities, you can apply for permanent residence in Canada under the Caregiver Program. Foreign nationals working as caregivers for at least 2 years in Canada can apply through this program.
The Caregiver Program is for skilled and semi-skilled individuals. However, you must meet some certain requirements such as education, language skill, as well as job experience to become eligible for this program.
